Whistler and Peacock Room

James Abbott McNeil Whistler was not a painter but worked in interior design as well.  The Peacock Room was created for Frederick Leyland and Whistle's role was to make minor changes to the design of Thomas Jeckyll.
Frederick Leyland did not see the changes as minor. To see this example of Ango-Japanese art, you don't need to go to England. The Peacock Room is on exhibit at the Freer Gallery in Washington D.C.

Samuel Gragg

Woke up with Samuel Gragg on the mind this morning. Imagine 19th century Boston  and developing a patent for "elastic chair". The design and minim decoration on his chair are so interesting.

Adele Bauer-Bloch at the Neue Galerie

Any lover of art must go to the Neue Galerie in New York City to see the iconic paintings by Klimt of Adele Bauer-Bloch. Retained by the Austrian government after the World Wars, the painting was brought at auction and brought the America. From this painting, you can tell  Klimt came from a family of Jewlery makers and the use of gold in this painting is so breathtaking.
The focus of the Neue Galerie is Austrian art.

Plus, the Neue Galerie has the best cup of Cafe Vienne in it's cafe.
I can't wait to spend more time at the Neue Galerie.

Who is Governor Robert Lowry of Mississippi?

The history of my family is tied to Governor Robert Lowry of Mississippi.
During the late 19th and early 20th my grandfather's family the Hilson were land holders in Mississippi. Like an African American family the house was burned and the family disappeared. My grandfather was a baby and his sister worked for the Governor at the time. She also disappeared. My grandfather Buster Lowry, Sr. stayed with Robert Lowry's family till he was of age and went on a joined the military. He never went back to Mississippi.
My father was his oldest son, Buster Lowry, Jr.
